About Us
We were wed on September 5, 2008 and were just doin our thing… then we decided to do the Peace Corps thing. We’re headed to Costa Rica at the end of February and will be there until May of 2013. Chris will be a volunteer with Rural Community Development, and Stephanie with Children, Youth and Family.
A quote from one of our favorite books which seems to fit our circumstances:
“…you must start somewhere and have some roots, and the soil of the Shire is deep. Still there are things deeper and higher; and not a gaffer could tend his garden in what he calls peace but for them, whether he knows about them or not. I am glad that I know about them, a little.”
Hi. My wife and I have also been nominated for Eastern Europe with a March 2011 departure date. Based on when Eastern European countries were staged this year and last, I am guessing it will be Albania for us (maybe you too).
What work will you be doing there?
I am nominated for Youth/Community Development and my husband is nominated for Business Development. You?

My wife is a Nurse Practitioner and will be doing Health work. I will be teaching English.

My husband and I are also going through the application process. Congratulations on your invitation! We were medically cleared 11/11/10 and haven’t heard a peep from anyone yet. Our nomination was for SSA departing June 2011 (Health Degreed) . Thanks for sharing your blog – it’s great to know that other people are just as anxious and excited as we are!

Hi guys. My husband and I submitted our applications about a month ago and it’s been slow going. I read that married couples are nominated quarterly? Is this true, and does anyone have any other information about that?

Yep, that’s true! While single people can be nominated all willy-nilly, married couples are only nominated quarterly. I have no idea why this is. We had our interview at the end of January last year and were nominated the beginning of March.
